AI Content Generation Policy
Introduction
With the advent of ChatGPT in 2022, Artificial Intelligence has revolutionized industries, education, and the labor market in unprecedented ways. Here at XenonPrime, we use GenAI tools such as ChatGPT to further our mission of helping clients with their digital marketing needs most effectively.
Many clients are interested in understanding how we use GenAI in our work and what are the wide-ranging ramifications of using this groundbreaking technology. In this article, we elaborate on these details.
Copywriting
Interestingly enough, one of the most demanding and time-consuming areas in the web design process is copywriting. When small business clients approach us for web design projects, they often come with limited budgets. In these cases, we use AI tools like ChatGPT to generate the written text for the website.
This, however, does not come without its drawbacks. Indeed, many readers are able to pick up on “AI-sounding” copy, and such a discovery may leave the viewer with a sense of inauthenticity from the author. Ultimately, clients will have to determine whether the drawbacks of AI-generated text outweigh the extra costs associated with professional copywriting.
Images and Video
In a similar vein to a website’s copy, images and videos make up a large part of the visual component of a website’s appearance. Fortunately, GenAI provides significant solutions in the realm of image and video generation. We currently utilize ChatGPT and MidJourney to create and edit images and videos for our clients when requested. In fact, many of the images on the XenonPrime website were created using MidJourney.
For clients who are uncomfortable with using GenAI for image and video creation, pexels.com provides a free repository of images in which clients can draw from. Moreover, Adobe Photos has stock images that can be purchased. Lastly, clients can simply take pictures themselves or hire professional photographers to take them.
As in the case of copywriting, clients will have to weigh the pros and cons of each method and determine which ones best fit their goals and budget. Clients should also be aware that a hybrid approach of utilizing many of these methods is absolutely possible and may very well be the best choice.
Legal
Although we are not legal professionals, we are aware of the numerous complex legal ramifications of using GenAI. For instance, if AI algorithms are trained on human-made content, do the products of GenAI ultimately belong to the people whose work was used to develop the AI models? Similarly, if AI models become so proficient that they are cheaper and better than humans, how does society reconcile with a no longer theoretical scenario of labor-market disruption and unemployment? These questions entail a fascinating legal, moral, and ethical discussion that we must face honestly and transparently.
As the ramifications of using Gen AI remain a murky area that the legal system will continue to sort out, we remain committed to complying with all pertinent laws and also complying with the terms of service from the AI companies whose tools we use. We encourage our clients to do their own research and, most importantly, consult with the appropriate legal professionals if they have any questions.
Conclusion
GenAI remains a powerful tool that has provided immense opportunity for society — in addition to some notable drawbacks. As we admittedly use GenAI in our work, we hope that this guide has provided significant insight into our process and has potentially sparked fascinating questions for our clients and visitors to our website. We encourage open discussion and believe in full transparency into what may appear to a murky and opaque process. As such, we welcome any comments or questions that you, the reader, may have.
